Recipe: Ramos Gin Fizz

WWFB: Fluffy Angel Wings Edition

The scene: My house, autumn, pining for fluffy angel wings.

Re-creating the magical Ramos Gin Fizz from The Sazerac Bar in New Orleans, thanks to a recipe from Imbibe. According to legend, you’re supposed to shake it for 12 minutes. F that… I used the blender.

Ingredients

  • 1½ OZ. OLD TOM GIN
  • 1 OZ. SIMPLE SYRUP (1:1)
  • ½ OZ. FRESH LEMON JUICE
  • ½ OZ. FRESH LIME JUICE
  • 1 OZ. FRESH EGG WHITE
  • 2 OZ. HEAVY CREAM
  • 3 DASHES ORANGE FLOWER WATER
  • CHILLED CLUB SODA

Preparation

Add ice to the glass to chill and set aside. Add all the ingredients (except the soda) to an ice-filled shaker and shake vigorously for 12 minutes (LOL — or just use the blender, sans ice!). Remove the ice from the glass and strain mixture into the glass from a distance to ensure froth. Top with club soda.

VERDICT: 8/10 Not as magical as the real deal at The Sazerac Bar, but not bad for homemade. Will drink again!
